PokerStars is one online poker room that never takes a break from hosting tournaments. The poker room recently released details about its upcoming event, the PokerStars Macau Live Tournaments. The Macau tournaments hosted by PokerStars is one of the biggest and richest poker events held in Asia. It includes 4 major poker series – Macau Poker Cup (MPC) Red Dragon, Asia Championship of Poker, Macau Poker Cup Championship or MPCC and the yearly Asia Pacific Poker Tour event at Macau. These live poker events will start in June and will continue till November, 2012.

Macau Poker Cup, Red Dragon

The first live poker event at Macau will be the Macau Poker Cup, Red Dragon series, which begins on June 9 and will be held through June 18 this year. The main event of the series will have a buy-in of 11,000 HKD and a guaranteed prize pool of HKD 300,000. The event will be held at the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino, which also hosted the series in year 2008. According to PokerStars, the casino’s Conference and Exhibition Center will be the venue for both the main event and the special events during the series. The events held during the 10-day period will include 9 events that will give away the “Official Asia Player of the year” titles to the winners.

The Red Dragon Series will continue its second leg from July 28 to August 6, 2012. The main event here also has a buy-in of HKD 11,000 and comes with a huge guaranteed prize. The previous winners of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon series included China’s Nicky Tao Jin, who took home HKD 1,092,500 in cash, after winning the HKD 11,000 event.

The MPCC and ACOP

The Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Series will be followed by the Macau Poker Cup Championship and the Asia Championship of Poker. The MPCC is another major poker event in Asia, and begins on September 7 this year. It will take place through September 16, 2012 and will include a Main Event with a buy-in of HKD 20,000. This is followed by the Asia Championship of Poker from October 26 to November 11, 2012. The ACOP is perhaps the biggest of all live poker tournaments in Macau, as it includes a Main event with a buy-in of HKD 100,000. If you win this event, you could be taking with you millions of HKD as prize money.

How to participate

You can participate in one or all of these Macau Poker events through direct buy-in. If spending thousands of dollars on buy-ins is not your style, you can always fall back on the good old satellite events that several poker rooms have to offer. To begin with, PokerStars is one of the online poker sites offering online qualifiers for the events in Macau. Just register with the poker site and look for ‘Macau’ under the list of tournaments in the lobby. Participate and win these tournaments and you could soon be on your way to Macau, one of the hottest gambling destinations in Asia and also the world.

Winner Poker has partnered with pokernews.com to bring a new promotion to its new members. The online poker room announced its new promotion called Winner’s Wednesday Dozen Freerolls, which literally lets you win free money. The new promotion is open to all the new players who register with Winner Poker and make a deposit. The promo will run for three months, and all you need to do is play poker and earn as many Winner Points as you can. Here are some more details about this lucrative promotion from Winner Poker.

12 freerolls to win

As a part of its Wednesday Dozen Freerolls, Winner Poker will be hosting 12 freeroll tournaments for its new members and giving away $30,000 in cash prizes. To be eligible for these freerolls, you need to earn Winner Points that the site rewards, by playing cash games and tournaments on it. Each of the freerolls has a prize pool of $2500, and is only open to new players, which means the competition is limited and may not be that tough either. If you are an experienced player and are good at poker, your chances of winning the free money are even better.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this promo, you will have to earn at least 150 Winner Points. With these points, you can participate in three freerolls during the 3-month period. If you earn 300 points, you can participate in 6 freerolls, and if you earn 450, you can play 9 freerolls. To participate in all the 12 freerolls, you will have to earn at least 600 Winner Poker points.

Earning Winner Poker points wont be a problem if you are a seasoned poker player. Just play poker for cash on the poker site and you can earn 12.5 points for every $1 you spend towards rake. So spend just $12 and you will get three freeroll tokens, and spend $48 to be eligible for all the 12 freerolls in the next three months. Definitely, spending less than $50 is worth the chance to win a part of the $30k prize pool.

Freeroll schedule

The 12 freeroll tournaments being hosted by Winner Poker will take place over 90 days. The freerolls will be held once a week, on every Wednesday starting May 23, 2012. The last freeroll would be on August 8, and the qualification period for each of the freerolls would be one week before it. The tournaments begin at 7:00 pm GMT on all scheduled days.

Bonuses

The best part about all this is that Winner Poker is giving away 250%, up to $2,000, on first deposits for all its new players. These bonuses are offered on the deposits you make and can be used to play any cash game on the site. Using these bonuses and earning Winner Poker points has an added advantage. If you earn enough number of points, you can participate in the special VIP tournaments that take place on all Wednesdays and Thursdays. But to avail any or all of these benefits, you should register with Winner Poker as soon as possible.

Among the many factors that determine how your Hold’em strategy should be, your position at the table is one. Table position in poker refers to how far or near you are to the dealer. In poker, the dealer is identified by a dealer button and usually keeps changing with every game. When you are not the dealer, your position at the table can be early position, middle position or the late position. Assuming that you are at a table with 10 players, here is how your strategy should be in each of the positions.

Early position

If you are seated close to the dealer and are among the first few players to play after the game begins, you are in an early position. For example, if you are to the immediate left of the player who is the big blind, you are in an early position. In such a scenario, your decision to continue to the flop or fold pre-flop is largely dependent on how strong your hand is and not the knowledge of what the opponents cards could be.

Players in the early position ate often referred to being “under the gun”, as they have no choice but to start the game with whatever they have. Being in an early position is a disadvantage as it gives you nothing on your opponents cards while your opponents get to make a decision depending on how you act.

Late Position

When you are in the late position, you would be one of the last players to act. This means you would have ample chance to observe the opponents’ actions and make your decisions accordingly. Being in a late position is an advantage as you will know whether the remaining players have checked, bet or folded. Also, going for a steal, which is to win the pot through bluffing is possible when you are in a late position, but not necessarily in a middle or an early position.

The logic behind this is that when you are in an early or late position, you will not have any idea of all the opponents’ hands. Trying to bluff with the half-knowledge you have in an early or middle position can be a dangerous thing in poker and could lead to significant losses for you. Players with the dealer button and the second last person to act at the table are the ones in a late position.

Middle Position

If you are to the left of the players in the early positions, say in the 4th, 5th or 6th place, you are in the middle position. Now there are both advantages and disadvantages to being in this place. The advantage is that you don’t have to start the action and can decide your move based on how the earlier members played.

The disadvantage is that you still have a few players after you, in the late position. Another drawback of being in this place is you could end up in what is called “squeeze play”, which is a difficult position. Such a situation is usually where you call the bet by someone in the early position, but someone in a late position is actually raising you. This is where you should exercise caution and avoid the temptation to spend more chips.

After the successful completion of the Irish Poker Open, Paddy Power Poker is back with the Irish Winter Festival 2012. The poker room recently announced the launch of the festival, which will take place between October 26 and October 29, 2012. The festival is not due to begin for another 5 months, but the satellite events circling it already have. Paddy Power also announced the launch of satellite games that will give away free seats to the IWF Main Event on October 27, 2012. Here is some more information about these events.

Irish Winter Festival

Spanning just 4 days, from October 26 to 29, the Irish Winter Festival may seem like the smallest poker tournament by Paddy Power. The events will take place during the 4 October bank holidays, but they certainly offer some good cash prizes to the winners. In 2011, the Irish Winter Festival saw the winner walk away with €100,000.

This year, the festival will be held at The Burlington Hotel in Dublin and will feature the €1,125 Main Event, which will be a No-Limit Texas hold-em tournament. In addition to that, Paddy Power is also having a special promo called the Six Survivors during the festival. This is somewhat similar to the Sole Survivor promo the poker site had earlier.

The four days of the festival will also feature a few other side events that you could participate in. The schedule of these events, however, is yet to be announced.

Six Survivors

One of the highlights of last year’s IWF was the sole survivor promotion. This year, it is going to be the Six Survivors promo. To qualify for this promo, you have to register with Paddy Power Poker and participate in the satellite tournaments for the IWF. That’s not all. You should win the qualifiers and win a seat to the IWF finals. The last six finishers at the IWF, who have qualified through Paddy Power’s qualifiers, will get to participate in the Irish Open in 2013. And, they will also qualify for the 2013 Irish Open sole survivor promo that gives away €100,000 in cash.

How to qualify

The Irish Winter festival is open to poker players from across Ireland and UK. You can be a part of the excitement in Dublin by registering for the events. Registrations can be made at the venue, although the dates for the same have not been announced. The easiest way to qualify for the events will be through the satellites that Paddy Power Poker is hosting from this month.

Paddy Power is hosting weekly satellites that take place every Sunday at 8:00 pm. The events have a buy-in of €140 and give away 2 IWF packages worth €1,800 every week. If you prefer the direct buy-in option for the events, you could register for it through Paddy Power website. Online registrations will be open from August while direct registrations at the venue can be made on the day of the event.

At the time of playing Texas Hold’em, it’s extremely significant to be familiar with the strategy of positioning. Within the poker game, the dealer’s position gains more advantage since the dealer is able to see who’s still in the hand.

The position of the dealer also gains additional benefits on knowing the way the players feel regarding their hands

As you by now knew, Texas Hold’em happens to be played in a clockwise and this result in the players at the dealer’s right to achieve less information.

The players the dealer’s right will obtain less benefit because of the being short of information for making an excellent decision.

The additional players would be raising the bet of the premature betting position. On being able to obtain the dealer position, which you’ll have numerous callers and excellent starting hand, you are able to put a smallest amount of bet.

This would be making the additional players call. You would be ending up raising the game’s pot size.

In the event of you truly understanding the way of playing with the “blind” position you have additional possibility of winning the game. In the event of you being in “blind”/ “early” position you do not have any feedback from additional poker players.

Within the blind position, call, raise, fish or take any possibility only on you having excellent starting cards

Do not allow the lure of the high stakes have you gamble at the time that you do not actually have an excellent hand. This isn’t the way of winning the game.

You might be having an idea that you are having partially of the ante inside the pot and the blind stakes happen to be high, even then do not gamble with that possibility.

So you must be saying no to this lure and saving your chips till you are having an excellent hand and require using the chips.

An excellent player identifies that for winning the poker game he requires an excellent plan and an excellent poker strategy. An excellent poker player does not depend on luck / chance.

Among the poker positioning plans happens to be the art of “bluffing”.

You are able to make use of a bluffing method to bluff a single player simpler compared to bluffing all the additional players. This is the reason for which positioning for poker game bluffing is among the vital poker factors.

The reason for which the blind position happens to be the most excellent poker position for bluffing is there is not going to be any cards on top of the table. This is able to make your rivals, who might have really excellent cards, not have any idea whether you are having excellent cards too.

Anyway at the time of bluffing you ought to know that on you getting additional to one caller, there is a chance that one among the callers is having an excellent hand.

In this instance, you ought to fold. Do not continue playing on your self-esteem.

The bluffing method in poker positioning approach is just to concern “stealing the additional blind” that’s all.

What is the hottest topic in the world of poker right now? You guessed it right. It is the World Series of Poker million dollar event, called the Big One for One Drop. The event has a buy-in of one million dollars and so far, has 30 confirmed participants. The World Series of Poker 2012 begins in May and the Big One for One Drop will take place in July, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in the sin city, Las Vegas. So far, the Big One for One Drop is the biggest tournament in the history of poker, and is estimated to give away more than 12 million dollars for the first place winner.

30 confirmed seats

WSOP’s Big One for one Drop may have the highest buy-in of $1 million, but it has been successful in drawing some of the rich and famous to participate. WSOP officials have revealed that 30 players have registered for the event, confirming their participation through the million dollar buy-in. Participants include several professional poker players and businessmen from the US, Europe and even Asia. The event, which will take place between July 1 and 3, will be telecast on ESPN.

Participants you can find at the table include Erik Seidel, Justin “Boosted J” Smith, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan and other professional poker players. The event will also have Asian businessmen Paul Phua and Richard Yong, French businessman Arnaud Mimran, and Paul Newey, who is the co-founder of the US company New Wave Ventures, LLP. The event will also have US businessmen Cary Katz of College Loan Corporation and Bob Bright of Bright Trading competing for the $12 million prize.

A few seats at the big event are also reserved for winners of the satellite tournaments that are being held all over the US. Of the seats reserved for satellite winners, two are for Caesars Entertainment satellites and one is for MGM Mirage satellite.

Mega prizes offered

The brainchild of Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque de Soleil, the Big One for One Drop aims at creating awareness about universal water problems. For every one million buy-in, $111,111 will be going to the One Drop charity and the rest will be going towards rake. The total prize pool for this mega event is estimated to be at least 26 million dollars, with the cash prize for first place winner being a whopping $12,266,668.

Want to play?

If you are excited about this million dollar event, you still have a chance to enter it through satellites. A number of online and brick-and-mortar casinos are hosting satellite tournaments for this event. Among them is the mega satellite that Caesars Entertainment is hosting on June 30, 2012, with a buy-in of $25,300. If you don’t want to spend so much, you can find your place in the satellite by playing the step-satellites for it. So if you at least want a chance to participate, you should start looking for satellite tournaments without any further delay.

BetVictor is one poker room that is always finding ways to make its members happy. The site is back with a new promo, where players get to win huge prizes through freerolls over the next one month. Starting April 10, BetVictor Poker will be hosting freerolls every Tuesday and Friday. The freerolls will be held through may 5,2012. BetVictor is calling the promotion Crazy Freerolls, and for an obvious reason. Keep reading to know what that is.

The Crazy Freerolls

BetVictor’s Crazy Freerolls are so called as the bi-weekly freerolls do not have a specific start time. They can begin anytime between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm CET on all Tuesdays and Fridays, till May 5. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well it is.

So how do you participate in the events? The answer is simple. You will have to login to BetVictor and watch out for a notification about the start time of the game. The freerolls will appear in the lobby an hour or so before it is about to begin. If you are logged into the lobby, you should look out for a yellow envelope which gives you the exact start time of a particular Crazy freeroll.

Note that registration for each of these freerolls opens only 15 minutes before the game starts. And, each freeroll also has a player cap of 600, which means you have to be really alert and quick in noticing the freeroll and registering for it.

When to play

As mentioned, the Crazy Freerolls will be held on all Tuesdays ad Fridays until May 4. In April, crazy freerolls will take place on the 10th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 24th and 27th. The last two freerolls will take place on May 1 and May 5. On all these days, the freeroll can take place anytime between the stipulated times, which is from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Prizes to be won

The total prize pool for every Crazy Freeroll is €500. This is divided among the top 30 players, of the total 600 who participate. Here is how the prize pool will be distributed for each freeroll.

First place winner gets €80, first runner-up gets €60 and the second runner-up gets €45

Players between ranks 4 and 9 will get €30 each

The next five players, between 10th and 15th positions, will get €10, and those from 16 to 20 will get €7

Of the last ten runners, players ranked between 21 and 25 will get €5, and the rest will get €3

Considering that you don’t have to spend anything on buy-ins for a freeroll, these cash prizes are good enough. But if you want to win the maximum, be sure to work on your poker skills to be among the top 3 winners.

BetVictor bonuses

Join BetVictor today and you could get a welcome bonus of upto €1,000. Once a member of the site, you will be able to participate in several other BetVictor promotions and win cash prizes, as well as packages to major poker tournament from around the world.

Waiting for the online poker table to get filled, to begin the game, is not an appealing idea. This gave rise to the concept of “fast fold” in poker, which was made popular by Rush Poker and Zoom Poker. Now, Unibet has come up with a similar concept so that its players no longer have to wait before moving on to their next hand. The new product is called Fast Poker, and is being offered in the browser version for now. The download client for fast poker is under development and will soon be launched by the poker site.

What is Fast Poker anyway?

The new concept by Unibet eliminates the waiting time between ending a game and starting a new one. Fast Poker software at Unibet is created by Relax Gaming, which has also supported the “fast folds” applications at Rush Poker and Zoom Poker. When you play Fast Poker, you have a “fast fold” button which you can use to fold your hand and move on to the next table which is ready to begin. So when you fold, you don’t have to wait at the same table for the game to finish and a new one to begin. This way, you should be able to play over 250 hands in one hour.

Also, players can play at multiple tables, all of which can be viewed in one window. Another advantage of Fast Poker is that it multiplies the amount spent on rake by four times, which means more number of player points and incentives.

How to play Fast Poker

Fast Poker is the new way of playing your favorite game on Unibet. Fast Poker has several Texas Holdem and Omaha tables that both new and existing players can join. If you already have an account with Unibet, all you have to do is create a Fast Poker alias on the site to get started. Your primary Unibet account will be used for funding your Fast Poker games, and should have a balance of €0.01 or more.

If you are new to the site, get registered with the site and make a deposit. Then, create an alias account for Fast Poker and you are ready to get started.

Fast Poker bonuses

Unibet is also offering bonuses to promote Fast Poker among its old and new players. Existing players on Unibet Poker will get a bonus of €10 when they create an alias for Fast Poker. But this special bonus is being offered only to the first 4000 players who register for the fast-paced poker games on the site, by creating an alias.

If you don’t already have an account with Unibet, the bonus offer gets even better. Register with the site and you could get a welcome bonus of upto €200. This bonus is given in installments of €5, for every €25 you spend towards rake. You will have just 60 days to spend the required amount on rake and withdraw the entire bonus amount. Considering that Fast Poker enables you to spend 4 times more rake than traditional games, it shouldn’t be difficult to get the bonus released within the specified time.
