Annie Duke on The Celebrity Apprentice
Saturday, April 4th, 2009 by Phil
I hate to admit this, but if you could see me right now you would see me watching The Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump on Hulu. The truth is that I don’t know why I’m watching this show. This isn’t the first time this has happened either. I saw the show a few weeks ago when Joe Sebok and a few other poker players showed their faces briefly to donate some money and help Annie Duke. I just saw an episode where Perry Friedman flew in to donate $10K and buy a wedding dress.
There was some rumors that Helmuth would show his face which did make me want to watch the show a little bit I suppose. Not because I like Phil Helmuth, but I just wanted to see if he made an ass out of himself. I’m guessing he probably tried to, because they never aired the footage of him. He probably showed up wearing some jackass outfit. The producers probably don’t want to be associated at all with UB/AP and I’m sure Phil was plastered with logos.
Anyway, I’ll be stunned if Annie Duke is able to win this reality show, but I really wouldn’t be surprised to see her go deep. She is not going to make a lot of mistakes. I hate to admit it but she’s actually somewhat smart. I guess I’m routing against her because I just don’t like her for some reason. Maybe it’s the UB/AP thing, maybe it’s because she cried after she won a poker tournament, who knows really. But I’m not afraid to say that she’ll probably go deep in this thing.
I’ll tell you exactly why she is going to go deep in this show. All of the other celebrities on the show are what I would consider real celebrities. You don’t need to be into a certain hobby or niche to know who these people are like Joan Rivers, Herschel Walker etc. There are a few people like Joan Rivers’ daughter who is probably hoping to gain some stardom from this show, but for the most part I think that Annie Duke is the person with the most to win here. If she can gain an extra month or two of air time I think it would be great for her career and I’m sure she knows this.
I also think it would be a great thing for the poker world if Annie Duke won The Celebrity Apprentice. Perhaps I should take back the prediction of a late-round loss by her. I hope she wins the f@#$ing thing; more fresh fish at the tables and more money for all of us.
