Barry Greenstein Talks “High Stakes Poker”
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 by Phil
In his recent radio blog entry on Pokerroad.com Barry Greenstein talks about his play during the fifth season of “High Stakes Poker”. The show will be aired starting in March on GSN network. Greenstein sounds disappointed by his play or maybe just by the outcome and tries to rectify his image.
It all sounds like a little damage control after not very successful performance. He actually admits that he discussed some hands from his session with Phil Ivey and Tuan Le. Greenstein claims that he almost never talks with people about specific hands just generally being sure he is capable of making right decisions most of the time. He makes an interesting remark about both Ivey and Le being very talented ‘feel” players which sort of defeat the purpose. In order to play based on a “feeling” one needs to be in the actual game and follow it closely. No amount of accurate description will recreate an actual environment.
On light side of the discussion, Greenstein mentions his mistakes in betting size on numerous occasions. He claims to be confused by Las Vegas’ chip denominations of 5 and 25 as oppose to California chips of 5 and 20. As a result, more then once he raised to 100 thousand dollars with intention to raise to 80 thousand. He readily admits that money of this scale means next to nothing to him and he does not pay close attention to random 20 thousands. Nice to be Barry Greenstein! It sounds like the third day of the “High Stakes Poker” filming was action packed and we might be in for a treat in a new TV season.
