David Grey Spills the Beans on Matusow

I caught an episode of Poker After Dark last night where David Grey started talking about Mike Matusow’s deal with Full Tilt Poker. It was a bit odd the way this all happened. I think it had just come back from a commercial break and the first words out of David Grey’s mouth were; “He said he wanted like two and a half million dollars”.

He went on for about 10 or 20 seconds complaining about this business deal but he didn’t really say who he was talking about. The only thing going through my mind at that point was that who ever he was talking about was not going to be very happy that David was talking about this sort of stuff on national television.

Then David said something to this affect; “Mike is telling me that the games fill up as soon as he sits down. So I told him, ‘Mike, do you really think people are playing with you for the novelty of playing with Mike Matusow?’ ”

This is certainly a valid point, but David also mentioned that this sort of stuff does happen at the lower stakes. There is a ton of people who just want to sit down and play with “Mike the Mouth”. I don’t think that Full Tilt would pay him much money if this wasn’t the case.

My favorite quote from David’s little rant… “Once you play for a
buy-in above $5,000 nobody gives a shit what your name is, they just
care how you do.”

I honestly didn’t even know that David Grey was among the circle of players that own Full Tilt. I suppose that’s because nobody is talking about David Grey behind his back like this on national television.
