Some Terrible Weekend Sports Picks

I’ve been off with my picks lately but it’s partially my own fault. This past weekend I had picked Tiger Woods, The LA Lakers and Annie Duke to all emerge victorious, and for the record that was a great big 0/3 when the weekend was over.

Tiger Woods… I’ve always known that he was over-hyped. This doesn’t mean he’s not the greatest golfer in the world, he’s just not the superhuman that he used to be. I believe I said he was a 1.7 to 1 favorite when he was 5 shots back going into Sunday. I think even money would have been more accurate. Any less of a favorite I think is just ridiculous because we all know that he is capable of putting together some kind of a run for the win when he’s got the “Sunday Red” on.

The LA Lakers, I guess there is no way I could have seen a loss in this game coming . This is still just a genuine surprise to me, and I still expect the Lakers to make it to the finals.

Annie Duke… now this is the prediction that I should have nailed. I came pretty close in a blog entry I wrote about 1 1/2 months ago about Celebrity Apprentice. I believe I said she would go deep into the show, but she wouldn’t be able to win it. Well she went deep. I guess I underestimated Joan Rivers a little bit, but I should have just gone with my gut and put her in second place on Celebrity Apprentice like I initially thought.

I would have at least been 1/3 this last weekend.
