Poker Video Training Sites
Over the last 6 months it seems as though I have seen an overwhelming number of new poker sites pop up. I think that the biggest trend by far is the growth of video training sites.
Some of these sites are pretty good, some are not so good, but the sheer number of people who think they know how to teach other people how to play poker is staggering.
I don’t subscribe to any of the video training sites anymore. Back when I was really learning how to grind the poker tables I was watching a lot of these videos, but not so much anymore. I have a few pet peeves with these sites.
The first thing that I see on most of these sites is something like this…
Here is our list of poker coaches;
- Alex “Suckmyballs” Alfred
- Max “Beat_Your_Mother” Jefferson
- Alan “The_Ass” Mathews
When you build a site like this, the whole point is build respect for
the people making the videos so that their advice has some weight and authority.
I understand that they want to make sure people can research who these players are in order to establish some credibility, but these guys really need to come up with some screen names that are a little bit more professional. If your goal is to inform people about the coaches, you should really just do a bio page for each of them so that you can keep the list of coaches on your homepage looking clean and respectable.
Another gripe that I have…It also gets pretty annoying listening to these guys try to flood their videos with poker lingo. “I got flatted by a TAG in the cutoff who then floated me twice with 2 overs and a gut shot… blah blah blah”. I can’t say that I never do this myself, but some of these guys are just ridiculous.
