Texas Holdem Poker Sites
There was a time, before the beginning of Internet poker, where Texas holdem was just an obscure game played by road gamblers. Even though it became the game of choice at the World Series of Poker, few people actually played it. They stuck to more traditional games such as draw poker and stud.
In addition to these poker games, you would see a lot of different variants being played occasionally, especially in dealers’ choice games, where the dealer would name the game for the particular hand he was dealing. These games often involved various wild cards, and you often had to be familiar with a lot of different poker games if you played at these kind of poker tables.
Many Games, More Difficult to Master Them
But with no clear cut game that was dominant, players tended to be jacks of all trades but masters of none. Online poker changed all that though, to the extent that Texas holdem and the very word poker have almost become synonymous.
Now anyone with a computer can play poker at any time of the day or night, against players from all over the world, for either fun or for real money. The game that is almost always played is Texas holdem.
This gives players the opportunity to focus on a single game and really get into the strategy behind it in great detail. With everyone focusing on a single game, this also allows for a lot more collaboration, which has driven the skill level and the potential to become more proficient playing the game to a whole new level.
Texas Holdem Brings Poker to a Whole New Level of Popularity
Not only has Texas holdem come to dominate online poker, it has taken poker to an entirely new level in popular culture. It used to be rare to see poker played on television, and at best you might see a single highlight show from the World Series of Poker once a year.
Now you can find a poker show running on one or more channels day and night. Poker is now one of the most popular types of programming around. And what kind of poker do they play on television?
Texas holdem, almost always.
Good Poker Information Used To Be Very Hard To Come By
The same is true as far as all the educational material that’s exploded since the popularity of poker took off so much. Prior to the Texas holdem poker craze that we have today, there were few books written on the subject at all, and even fewer of any real significance.
Aside from Doyle Brunson’s Super/System and David Sklansky’s Theory Of Poker, neither of which were devoted entirely to Texas holdem by the way, there really wasn’t much at all worth reading.
In fact, the popularity of Brunson’s original book wasn’t so much that it was so instructive, it was actually the first glimpse ever into the mind and the strategy of a top poker player. Sklansky, on the other hand, gave us much more than a glimpse into the theory behind the game, and The Theory of Poker still considered one of the finest books ever written on poker.
Poker Information Has Now Exploded
There are hundreds of poker books that have been written now; some of which are extremely high quality. Others aren’t worth the paper they are written on. And there are a lot of poker books in between.
The game that’s being written about in almost all cases is, you guessed it, Texas holdem. By getting people to focus on a single game, this has allowed for it to be explored in much more detail than would otherwise be possible. Much of the material is geared toward newer players, but we’re seeing more advanced material being produced.
Further fuelling this rise in the quality of poker information is the fact that top players are becoming far less reluctant to divulge their secrets, as they come to realize that their doing so really doesn’t represent the threat to them that they once believed.
The Number of Texas Holdem Sites Offering Poker Information Has Increased Exponentially
Online poker has now been around for over a decade, and every day, more Texas holdem sites are launched. These poker sites deal with a wide variety of topics related to poker, but many also offer Texas Holdem strategy advice.
The quality of the advice on these Texas holdem sites does differ a great deal though, with almost all of the information that’s out there geared toward newer players, with the concepts being mostly introductory and straightforward. Even if you are new though, there’s only so many times you want or need to be reading the same old stuff over and over again.
To make matters worse, the information is only as good as the playing skills of the person writing the poker strategy articles for the poker site, and to be honest, they generally aren’t very good at all. To make matters worse, a lot of this poker information isn’t even original, it’s just people re-writing other strategy advice of dubious quality.
You could go from poker site to poker site and visit thousands of them in fact without really getting much good information on Texas holdem strategy. The fact that there are indeed countless number of poker sites offering strategy articles, like the stars in the sky, isn’t very helpful at all.
Is There Anything Out There of High Quality?
Sure, there are a few Texas holdem sites that do offer helpful information beyond the simplest advice, but they are hard to find and buried under a huge pile of rubble. There’s a good reason why most online poker players are losing money consistently, apart from the fact that this must necessarily be the case anyway.
Even without the rake, half the players must lose more than they win, but the poker rooms themselves make a good profit, and this takes things from a net neutral where half win and half lose, to where most lose. There are many who do win consistently, a significant percentage of players in fact, but they tend to be much more skilled and much more in the know than your average player.
They did not come by this higher level of skill and knowledge simply by browsing the Internet and reading material written by and for losing players. The first lesson that aspiring winners need to realize is that you don’t get something for nothing in the world of Texas holdem online poker.
So many players are under this delusion, thinking that everything should be free, and not realizing that their being cheap is costing them a lot more money. Rather than spend a few bucks, they are content with losing a lot more than this, month after month, due to their stubbornness. There is indeed a path to winning Texas holdem, and it’s not just surfing the net hoping someone will throw you a free bone.
If You Want to Be a Good Poker Player, You Must Do What Good Players Do
If you took a survey of winning online Texas holdem players, right from the small stakes to the high ones, you’d find one thing in common. They all spend a significant part of their time at Texas holdem poker training sites.
In fact it’s very difficult indeed to succeed at online poker these days without having at least one membership at one of these training sites. The main reason is that the internet’s best poker players are offering thousands of hours of video instruction of the highest quality to anyone who can afford to pay their very modest monthly membership fee, and those who refuse to are simply left behind in the dust.
Isn’t It Better to Learn from Winners Rather than from Losers?
It’s been estimated that only 10 to 15 percent of online poker players win money consistently, and while this is a significant percentage, what separates these players is that they have at least a good understanding of what it takes to be a winning player. So if you want to be part of this group, who are you going to look to learn from? A website owner who hasn’t even been able to beat the game himself, and has turned to promoting poker on the web because he or she can’t make money playing poker?
Perhaps you want to learn from a poker author who, although they have made money in poker, don’t have much of an idea of the games you play and how to beat your opponents at it?
Or would you rather learn from someone who has pounded your games in the past and is now at a much more advanced level, and is willing to provide you all of the secrets of their success, tailored to the games you currently play as well as the ones you aspire to beat when you move up?
Poker Training Sites Are an Investment in Yourself
This is not learning for the sake of learning. With each video you watch, and each tidbit of information you gather, you will be further and further along the road to your poker success. We’re not talking having to wait until some point in the future to reap these benefits though, as you will not have to wait for any of that.
Even if you currently only play very small stakes, you can recoup the small cost of the membership fee several times over in the very first month. We’re talking about an investment here that pays instant dividends. If you aren’t currently a member of one of these valuable Texas holdem sites, each day you wait, you will only bleed more money. If you already take advantage of this instruction, you need to seriously consider expanding your knowledge base by furthering your training by trying out more of these great sites.
