Some WSOP Predictions
I’ve been getting a glimpse into what the WSOP coverage will entail this year through everyone’s twitter updates. I saw that Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and some other players had some sort of Jeopardy event scheduled with Norman Chad.
I also heard that they had a dunk booth set up at the WSOP for Norm. It sounds like another year filled with bad ex-wife jokes to me. I was holding out some hope that ESPN would get a third announcer this year.
It also just occured to me that nobody had ever really heard of Twitter at the WSOP last year. I think there should be some interesting updates, and I suspect players will find a way around the rule barring any SMS devices at the table. I’d imagine that they can just walk away from the table for 20 seconds between hands to tweet something if they want to.
Im also gonna gamble a little bit and make the prediction that not a single well-known player will win a bracelet this year. I know I’m an underdog on this one, but I know it’s possible, and the field of unknown players gets better every year. I guess I will have to exclude the 50K HORSE and 40K Hold ‘em tournaments because Im sure those will be taken down by well known players.
I also just saw that Andy Bloch, Jefferey Pollack and some other
players met with President Obama. Not sure what this was about,
but I guess there was some handshaking, probably a little bit of
lobbying etc.
My final prediction, ESPN will find the biggest, stupidest looking chair in the desert and make players sit in it for their interviews.
